The BCF Scholarships Program provides scholarships to youth of Barbadian heritage pursuing post-secondary education at Canadian universities and colleges. To date we have granted 96 scholarships valued at $347,000.

All scholarships available are for $4,000 each and include the following memorial scholarships which are funded by BCF from donations received:
  • The Harold M. Brathwaite Memorial Scholarship.
  • The Donald MacKinlay Memorial Scholarship; and
  • The John Rollock Memorial Scholarship.
In addition the following sponsored scholarships are currently available:
  • The BOCC Scholarship, sponsored by Barbados Overseas Community Canada, a non-profit organization which is now defunct.
  • The Bass Installation Scholarship sponsored by Bass Installation Ltd, a leader in glass installation, providing services to the commercial, residential, institutional and industrial sectors in the Greater Toronto Area. This scholarship is open to students pursuing studies related to the construction industry in the fields of engineering, architecture or construction management.
  • The Gloria Baylis Memorial Scholarships sponsored by the Gloria Baylis Foundation, the primary charitable giving program for Baylis Medical Technologies, which "seeks to be a world leader in the conception, development, production, and distribution of state-of-the-art medical products that improve the lives of people around the world” and is "committed to offering these products with exceptional customer service."
  • The Blue Circle Energy Scholarship sponsored by Blue Circle Energy, a renewable energy company that designs, finances and installs ground-mounted solar installations in Barbados. This scholarship is available first and foremost to students who wish to pursue post-secondary technical education in the fields of the environment or renewable energy (electrical or environmental engineering preferred). Blue Circle Energy also offers a summer internship opportunity in Barbados for the scholarship recipient as long as the recipient is enrolled in the programming described.
  • The Diproinduca Canada Scholarships sponsored by Diproinduca Canada Ltd, a by-product management and alternative raw materials production company serving the steel, oil, and mining industries.

You may be eligible for a BCF Scholarship if you are of Barbadian heritage, are not more than 30 years of age and are attending or will be attending a Canadian college or university.

BCF Scholarships are granted in the amount of $4,000 each with all grants being paid directly to university or college being attended by the recipient.

​Scholarship applications are evaluated and recipients selected by individuals who are at arms-length to BCF’s board of directors. 

​To apply for a BCF Scholarship please review the Application Guidelines carefully, and complete and submit the Application Form prior to the deadline for submission of applications stated in the Application Guidelines. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

If there is information missing in an application the applicant will be contacted and if the missing information is not provided by the deadline the application will not be considered.

BCF Scholarships are funded by donations made by individuals and sponsorships.

Scholarships may be sponsored by an individual, corporation or charitable organization in the name of the individual, corporation or charitable organization, to recognize an individual for their achievements, or to memorialize an individual.

Scholarships are granted in the amount of $4,000 each and sponsorship commitments are for a 3-year period, with payment to be made by August 1st annually.
