our scholarships program
The BCF Scholarships Program provides scholarships to youth of Barbadian heritage pursuing post-secondary education at Canadian universities and colleges. A total of 91 Scholarships valued at $286,000 have been granted to date, Including scholarships granted by Barbados Ball Canada Aid (now Barbados Canada Association) before Barbados Canada Foundation (BCF) assumed management of the scholarships program.
Scholarships available are for $4,000 each and include:
Applications for the 2023 BCF Scholarships are to be submitted between May 1, 2023, and June 16, 2023. Do NOT apply before May 1, 2023. Applications received after June 16th will not be accepted.
Scholarship applications are evaluated by a panel comprised of persons who are not members of the board of directors of Barbados Canada Foundation, following which the board selects the scholarship recipients.
Recipients will be notified by August 12th, 2023.
Each scholarship grant will be paid directly to the university or college being attended by the recipient.

Scholarships available are for $4,000 each and include:
- The Bass Installation Scholarship sponsored by Bass Installation, a leader in glass installation, providing services to the commercial, residential, institutional and industrial sectors in the Greater Toronto Area. This scholarship is open to students pursuing studies related to the construction industry in the fields of engineering, architecture or construction management.
- The Gloria Baylis Memorial Scholarships sponsored by Baylis Medical Technologies, which "seeks to be a world leader in the conception, development, production, and distribution of state-of-the-art medical products that improve the lives of people around the world", and is "committed to offering these products with exceptional customer service."
- The Blue Circle Energy Scholarship sponsored by Blue Circle Energy, a renewable energy company that designs, finances and installs ground-mounted solar installations in Barbados. This scholarship is available first and foremost to students who wish to pursue post-secondary technical education in the fields of the environment or renewable energy (electrical or environmental engineering preferred). Blue Circle Energy also offers a summer internship opportunity in Barbados for the scholarship recipient as long as the recipient is enrolled in the programming described.
- The BOCC Scholarship, sponsored by Barbados Overseas Community Canada, a non-profit organization which is now defunct.
- The Harold M. Brathwaite Memorial Scholarship funded by Barbados Canada Foundation.
- The Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation Scholarship sponsored by the Aubrey & Marla Dan Foundation.
- The Diproinduca Canada Scholarships sponsored by Diproinduca Canada Ltd, a by-product management and alternative raw materials production company serving the steel, oil, and mining industries.
- The Donald MacKinlay Memorial Scholarship funded by Barbados Canada Foundation.
- The John Rollock Memorial Scholarship funded by Barbados Canada Foundation.
